Karwar to Udupi

Another day down, another 200km in our rear view mirror. Or in our case, extremely shaky, unusable sideview mirrors.

As we get closer to the finish line, we are regularly seeing more and more fellow runners. Last night, all the hotels in Karwar were full so another team bunked up with us. Our room was a "suite" so we had plenty of space.

After a light breakfast of dosa and chai - a dosa is like a crepe but served with curry, we hit the road around 8a. Most of our driving is along the coast. It is quite pretty, but there is also SO much construction.

Since we had plenty of time we decided to take a detour to Murdeshwar. Murdeshwar is another name for Shiva. And they have a giant statue of Shiva as well as a temple. The statue is the 2nd largest in the world. It was very impressive - 123 feet tall! The only bad part of this detour was the children that were begging. They would not leave you alone. Literally followed us everywhere, asking over and over. Mike actually yelled at one boy and he still didn't leave. It sort of ruined the experience, but still glad we got to see the temple.

(We both look weird in this picture, but oh well)

The temple overlooks the Arabian Sea

The rest of the drive was pretty easy going. We helped some fellow runners who were out of oil on the side of the road and ended the day at a very nice hotel in Udupi. Happy to spend the evening here!
