Pune to Kolhapur

Another beautiful morning. We have quickly learned that all driving before 10am is the best driving. Our hotel sent us off with flare. Everyone was so excited about our journey and could not have been nicer. Even providing us with a sack lunch and a case of water. I will miss that hotel....

We cruised down the highway to make sure that Goa was achievable by tomorrow. 

Highway driving is easy, but boring. However, on the Rickshaw Run even boring has its moments.

We were stopped by police (normal) who asked our teammates to feed them cookies. It was hilarious and bizarre. Mike and I got off with just taking selfies. 

At our gas stop, our celebrity, Mike was asked for his autograph. Seriously. There's photographic evidence. 

At a toll booth we tried to squeeze in a tight spot and hit a bus. No harm, no issues, but a giant scrape on the side of Ricky which revealed paint jobs from past runners. Like opening a time capsule, haha.

Pushing the rickshaw up a slope I managed to run over a couple of my toes. They are okay, but seem to be numb all the time. It will pass, I'm sure. 

Made it to Kolhapur to find out the hotel had lost our booking and had no rooms, so we ended up at another place which is evidently in the middle of Brazilian Carnival based solely on the noise coming from outside. We had a nice dinner on the roof and enjoyed a couple beers as the sun set.

Today has been the most difficult for me. I am homesick, tired of feeling ill, and crabby. I know it will get better - but we can all have bad days, right?! I feel like we share a lot of positive, but the reality is it is not all positive. These moments that I share are those we look back on and laugh and amaze ourselves that we overcame them. But, in the moment, it's tough and it takes a lot out of you. I'm looking forward to getting to the beach tomorrow. The ocean always seems to heal my soul.
